The "Bloom 06" are an Italian electronic music group, formed in June 2006, consisting of Maurizio Lobina and Gianfranco Randone, better known as Maury and Jeffrey of "Eiffel 65".

Once "Bloom 06" parted ways with "Gabry Ponte", they presented themselves to the masses as a hypothetical Italian experimental group akin to "Depeche Mode" and "Robert Miles". At least, that was the goal according to the interviews they gave at the time.

The result? This first work "Crash Test 01" is inconsistent in quality and intention. The style is different, however, from previous works under the "Eiffel 65" label. This new sound is less dance-oriented and much less commercial; it attempts to incorporate different elements like electric guitars and 'real' drums.

But let's move on to the tracks:

-01 "When the party's over" Long introduction and decent guitar riff. Electronic voice à la "Eiffel 65" but quickly becomes boring.

-02 "Cielo spento" First Italian song on the album. Passable lyrics, typical chorus.

-03 "In the city" This track was the first single from the album and also the reason I bought this CD. A nice song, balanced in a very '80s style.

-04 "Don't say these words" Cute track, almost falls into the 'calm' genre of "Eiffel 65" on the eponymous album.

-05 "Per sempre" Another song without much flair, neither pop, nor dance, nor electro... meh.

-06 "The crash" The theme of this album continues... and so does the boredom.

-07 "Vorrei essere come te" Quite pretty song. Sappy lyrics. Overbearing pad. Italian pop-like melody.

-08 "The old field of angels" This song tries to capture that right mix of the song "In the city" and... yes, it succeeds.

What to say in conclusion?

If you love electronic music, forget it, it's not worth it.

If you were fans of "Eiffel 65", skip this album and also the subsequent "Crash Test 02" (even scarcer). However, there's good news: the "Eiffel 65" have just reunited, and we hope they return to their former hit-making glory.
