The Blondie are back, the historic band led by the incomparable vamp-girl Deborah Harry.
With 17 films, 43 appearances in TV series, 40 million albums sold worldwide, Deborah Harry is an iconic queen of pop music and fashion (Dolce and Gabbana were inspired by her for their latest fashion collection).
The eleventh chapter of their discography is titled The curse of Blondie (translated into Italian La maledizione di Blondie). The tracklist includes fourteen tracks.
Regarding the choice of the title, the artist explains that "It became a joke among us. Every time something strange happened, we would say: There it is, it’s the curse of the Blondie! The title is reminiscent of films with Vincent Price, vampires, and horror. However, I think it will bring good fortune".
In this new album, there is the unmistakable style and unique class of the legendary New York band. A modern spirit with the "cursed" funky/rap of Shakedown (let’s remember the first white-rap track in history, Rapture, composed by Blondie in 1980), and with the single Good Boys featuring techno dance rock.
Golden Rod hits perfectly (reminiscent of the era?) balanced on the sweetness of a captivating Deborah Harry who still knows how to flatter like never before. Legendary, majestic, wonderful.
Also in the tracklist is Hello Joe, dedicated to the late Joey Ramone.
The curse of Blondie turns back the artistic clock of the band by about fifteen years. It doesn’t reach the absolute perfection of Plastic Letters (1977) and Parallel Lines (1978), but this new album remains a classic and expert work that will make an indispensable, influential, and seminal band talking about itself again.
