During a lavish lunch at zzzz's home, we decide to precede magomarcelo, lost in the Aosta Valley, in writing this review: who's going to do it? You (zzzzz)? Me (donzaucher)? Him (josi_)? Why not all three of us?

And so here we are, in a relaxed Saturday afternoon setup: steaming coffee, pastries, chillout music, sun, and a light breeze outside. A freewheeling chat among DeBaser friends, without a predefined script: let the dance begin!

donz: I was the only one who had already seen them live, but as soon as we entered the beautiful villa, I was immediately stunned: what??? SEATED??? But this isn’t bingo night!!! Oh well, let's at least hope to have (numbered!) seats near the stage!

josi_: While we are shamelessly slathering on Autan (handed out at the entrance), we see the graying hair of one of the Blonde Redhead brothers, and donz and I launch... how do you say in English "can we take a photo"??? ...Oh no, they're Italian! But is it Amedeo or Simone? Who knows!

donz: The photo is the one you see at the top left: josi_ and I are unrecognizable because when I went to his house, he told me "I have a video cassette to show you!" then we received a strange phone call... who knows...

zzzzzzz: Well, I have to tell Hal, we kind of lost Joe Henry, we were distracted, very distracted. I was trying to get half a kilo of driveway stones out of my shoes, josi_ from a blonde passing by, and donz was chatting merrily with the magician and Tiziana (Cleo's friend we still don't quite understand how we know, but the world is small and DeBaser is big, as we know).

josi_: But let's get to the music... Actually, wait, there's the last cream puff. Donz...?

donz: What can I say... no, there's the last walnut pastry! zzzzzz? Come on!!!!

zzzzzz: Well, these two fancy guys are eating all my favorite pastries, so I'll start telling you something about the concert: they start with "Falling Man" or Pulicinella's song as barrylindon claims (it's true!!!). Then... "In Particular" (josi_ and donz tell me) from the previous album, and then songs from even older albums, all very different from "Misery Is A Butterfly", the pieces are less songs and more instrumental variations with Amedeo's major guitar solos and Kazu's vocalizations that spark between the two, which make us think, who knows why, of possible improvisations like "fuck for forest".

donz: The concert was amazing, I didn't remember Simone being so "present" in the songs, Kazu... well... hearing her sing in "Misery Is A Butterfly", with that yellow dress of hers, with two black folds that looked like butterfly wings... goosebumps... actually, as mentioned in the meeting cronicle, I was so covered in Autan that I felt the goosebumps but couldn't see them!

josi_: The scholars have written everything here. I'll just add that in front of us there was a row with some bearded guys, I tried calling them ("Jason? Jim? Kevin? Aaron? Tim?), but they didn’t respond, obviously they weren't the Grandaddy. But they greatly appreciated, as I did, the rich embroidery of Pink Love, beautifully sung by Kazu and even better by Amedeo.

donz: It's encore time: finally someone decides to disregard the seated places, and within seconds we've moved several positions towards the stage. We enjoy the two/three songs, but the whole audience wants more: there they are returning a second time, for a long song (possibly an improvisation?) at the end of which the lights come on definitively.

Just enough time remains to stick some promotional post-its around the parking lot (right zzzzz?) and to say goodbye to the magician and Tiziana (not before getting lost on the way back).

zzzzzzz: What didn’t they play for us? "Maddening Cloud", "Loved Despite of Great Faults," and "Equus" but we loved it anyway.

josi_: All roses and flowers!

donz: What a confirmation! They are great!

zzzzzzzzz: Absolutely beautiful!
