THE REVIEW

I think this CD is the most original that the American punk band has ever made. After the great success of "Enema Of The State", blink 182 strikes again in 2001 with the release of "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket", an album of simple pop-punk, but which in its simplicity unleashes an incredible strength and energy.

The CD: It starts off strong (as usual) with "Anthem Part Two", featuring a Travis Barker in great shape, more roaring than ever. It transitions to "First Date", offering great melody that overlaps with the guitarist Tom's voice, creating a captivating and energetic sound, (the music video is cute). "Story Of A Lonely Guy", in my opinion, one of the best songs on the album, but one that needs to be listened to multiple times to appreciate its beauty. Definitely add these two songs to the favorites list: "The Rock Show" and "Stay Together For The Kids". The first is completely different, both in lyrics and musical structure. The first one showcases positive power, while the second one showcases negative power (positive and negative power relative to the lyrics). Undoubtedly, "Reckless Abandon" has one of those qualities that few (almost no) songs on the CD have; a calm and peaceful start with Tom's voice low and muffled that in just a few seconds becomes powerful and deep... Phenomenal! The alternating voices of Tom and Mark in "Every Time I Look For You" fit perfectly, they seem made for each other. The trio "Give Me One Good Reason", "Shut Up" and "Please Take Me Home" closes perfectly "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket", with the usual grit and energy that only blink can instill into the minds of their listeners. Finally, an album that is a pleasure to listen to and that after a couple of listens, we'll be humming in the shower or on the bus while heading to school. As usual, I'll leave you with a tracklist of the CD wishing you a good listen!!! signed: purpleblack

"Happy Holidays You Bastard is the best track on the CD: something original, different from the other songs, an adrenaline rush of less than a minute played very fast."

"Just for Travis (the drummer), it's worth listening to."

"Take Off Your Pants And Jacket encapsulates adolescent angst with punk-rock strokes and irreverent humor."

"'Stay Together for the Kids' is a heartbreaking and angry outburst about childhood torn apart by divorce."
