I am about to review a Blink 182 CD "Take off your pants and jacket" knowing that many will insult me, curse me, and so on. However, I am only interested in constructive criticism, so those who want to leave stupid comments should refrain from doing so.
After this recommendation, let's move on to the album: it’s a continuation of "Enema of the State", the album that made them famous. They could have experimented with new sounds but instead kept the winning formula to sell: on one hand, I don't approve, but I still really like the songs. The opening with "Anthem part two" is very beautiful, a sequel to the last song of the previous CD, which shows you the unaltered style of this album. "Online Songs" has a very nice bass intro; it’s a very rhythmic song accompanied by Mark's beautiful voice. "First date": silly lyrics, extremely silly video (though we could do with more videos like this), but music that gives you a boost (very beautiful live). "Happy Holidays You Bastard" is the best track on the CD: something original, different from the other songs, an adrenaline rush of less than a minute played very fast. "Story Of A Lonely Guy" is perhaps the lowest point of this CD: a catchy song but one that fails to really get inside you. "The Rock Show" is a very ‘blinkish’ song: fast-paced, silly video (where they throw away a mountain of money), and very catchy melody (it's no coincidence that it’s the opening single of the CD). "Stay Together for the Kids" is a song much like "Adam's Song" with the same structure: Tom's guitar, quiet verse, and an eardrum-busting chorus that makes your adrenaline levels soar; moreover, the lyrics of this song, which talk about family problems, are very beautiful. "Roller coaster" brings back the cheerfulness but is nothing special, a song very similar to the others of Blink. "Reckless Abandon" starts with an intro formed by Tom's voice accompanied by the guitar, then the song takes off (this too stands out live). Then follows "Everytime I Look for You," which starts with a pounding guitar to which Mark's voice and bass gradually add. "Give Me One Good Reason" is also a very beautiful song for the lyrics that talk about how young people dress and that everyone should do whatever the hell they want. Then it continues with "Shut up" and finally "Please Take Me Home," an ideal song to end this CD.
In reality, there are also two bonus tracks a bit hidden at the end of the CD. Since these bonus tracks change from CD to CD (you can find the orange CD, the red CD, and the green CD), I can only describe those of the orange CD: "Fucking Dogs" is not a song but a chorus of drunk alpine troop singers and the drunk voices of Blink sending everyone to hell, including a poor dog (don't ask me why); “What Went Wrong” is instead a beautiful and somewhat melancholic song played only with two acoustic guitars and Tom's beautiful voice.
In general, a CD that adheres to the rules of commercial pop rock but not for this reason a bad CD. Just for Travis (the drummer), it’s worth listening to.
