For my first review, I chose an album from one of my favorite bands, Blink182.
Although I know that this band is technically nothing exceptional, and even the lyrics, some almost obscene, I really like it a lot for its spontaneity and its punk aggressiveness. Now Blink182 have lost all this with success, but before achieving this (with 'Enema Of The State') these three goofy and silly guys recorded a whole other 3 CDs. A cassette and various demos.
'Buddha', the debut CD for the trio represents a significant step for their music that would later take them to where they are now. This album, endowed with extremely fast rhythms and punk sounds reminiscent of Pennywise, Bad Religion, Propagandhi & Co. is a CD full of fast, blunt and short songs, perfect for the punk rock of that time.
In this album, you immediately notice the potential of the singer-guitarist, Tom Delonge, who with simple yet clear riffs manages to captivate the listener and not bore him. Mark Hoppus, second voice and bass, has only the task of accompanying the songs with the bass, and he does it quite well. As for the drummer, Scott Raynor (who will later be replaced by Travis Barker), we can say that he hits hard, and you can hear it! In short, in conclusion, a pop punk album suitable for teenagers and beyond, that never bores and makes you want to listen to it several times.
For pop punk lovers, it is a milestone of the genre, a must-have.
