THE REVIEW

The Black Funeral return after quite some time, a formation that has been a torchbearer of American black for ten years. Now I want to have some fun talking about "Az-I-Dahak", their latest album (so to speak).

All the songs revolve around a concept: vampirism and ancient Persian black magic (bah...). I wonder one thing: why did they come back? This CD is the worst black metal album I have ever seen and I mean the worst in every way, it could give "La grande danse macabre" by Marduk a run for its money, Mordant (not an important band, by the way) wouldn’t even have put it on their most insipid EP. Songs where you hear screams that sound like squealing pigs and the instruments... oh, right, the instruments—I didn't know there were instruments on this CD—they just cannot be heard. I've always considered Black Funeral a useless band in the black metal scene, yet for 10 years they have been tormenting our ears with their disgusting music.

A piece of advice: take up horse riding. Highly discouraged purchase.
