Black Country, New Road

Musical Group

Black Country, New Road is an English experimental/art‑rock band from Cambridge. Their debut album For The First Time (2021) and follow-up Ants From Up There (2022) mix post‑rock, no‑wave and klezmer influences with prominent saxophone and violin. Singer/guitarist Isaac Wood left the band days before the release of Ants From Up There (as noted in DeBaser reviews).

Formed in Cambridge and active from 2018 onward. Debut album released in 2021; second album released in 2022. Isaac Wood departed the band shortly before the second album's release.

Two highly positive DeBaser reviews praise Black Country, New Road's two albums for their blend of post‑rock, no‑wave and klezmer influences. Reviewers highlight saxophone and violin arrangements, ambitious orchestration and introspective lyrics. Isaac Wood's departure just before the second album is noted as a major moment for the band.
