THE REVIEW

The Black Beat Movement is a collective born less than a year ago, through the union of creative and appropriately charged minds. When you have the fortune of rowing all in the same direction, results emerge very quickly, creating that alchemy that releases the artistic side of a project in its entirety.

The specific case is this self-titled debut EP, damn effective, it must be admitted. Setting aside well-known names that might easily be mentioned in terms of influences, what immediately strikes you about this work is its extreme effectiveness, transforming everything into any dancefloor. The five tracks offered here are extremely effective, while experimenting with very different solutions from one another: it moves from the typically jazz intimacy of "Slow" to the black and catchy side of "Ride The Wave" complete with upbeat trumpets. Despite working on just a handful of songs, Black Beat Movement have managed to imbue the whole with vibrations and personality, navigating effortlessly between black music, rap, drum'n'bass, and soul without ever seeming out of place. Naima Faraò's voice is then a pleasant surprise; her interpretation of the role is certainly worthy of praise since navigating such diverse scenarios with so much brilliance is not an easy task.

A small feat accomplished mainly thanks to a lineup that seamlessly blends members of Vallanzaska, Rezophonic, and Rootical Foundation with new faces eager to emerge. Will they succeed? Surely an EP is not the proper means to determine the fate of a band, but in this case, the premises are more than promising. Keep it up!
