 The aspect that stands out the most from listening to this band is the spontaneity in changing atmospheres without being too obvious.

 A more than decent album of Melodic Black Metal, characterized by being very ‘acted,’ almost ‘Theatrical,’ and by an accentuated use of classical operatic arrangements.

Bishop of Hexen

Bishop of Hexen is an Israeli symphonic/melodic black metal band formed in 1994. Their debut, Archives of an Enchanted Philosophy (1997), and the theatrical The Nightmarish Compositions (2006) defined their orchestral, gothic approach; they later returned with The Death Masquerade (2021). The reviewed 2006 lineup features Lord Koder (vocals), Dimrost (keyboards), Prof. Van Helsing (drums) and Ariel (guitars).
