In a historical moment when the word "Hard Core" seems to be trendy, distorted by certain stereotypes that have nothing to do with the traditional concept of the term, Biohazard brings back the primordiality that seemed lost. "DeathCore", "NewAmericanHardCore", "EmoCore", "MetalCore": Kids manufactured at the table, with teased hair, as skinny as Biafra refugees, tattooed up to their necks and covered in piercings.

After six years of absence, four burly men with bandanas and menacing looks forcefully return to the scene with a frighteningly aggressive album: "Reborn In Defiance". The combination of Groove, Speed metal colored by Rap incursions is exactly what we expected from this seminal band. An attitude unchanged over time, filled with a rage that even today, after twenty years, they are still capable of unleashing. Strengthened by the return of guitarist Bobby Hambel, an original member who left the lineup in '94, Biohazard releases the follow-up to "Means To An End" from 2005, which came out during the decline of CrossOver/New Metal that threatened to swallow them up disgracefully. After overcoming the difficulties of recording (a year of delays and postponements), and the setback of bassist/singer Evan Seinfeld (already a part-time porn actor) who left the band immediately after the release of this work, Biohazard returns to claim what is rightfully theirs: a prominent place among the greats, where they proudly stand alive and well, and still capable of making us jump around like pimple-faced teenagers.

Tracks like "Skullcrusher", "Vengeance is Mine", and "Reborn" could easily serve as the backdrop to a violent popular uprising, or simply drive us to serious acts of vandalism in the living room. "Killing Me" and "Vows Of Redemption" momentarily slow down the pace, just to give us time to reload with clubs and stones, and dangerously restart with "Come Alive" and "Never Give In", finally ending gracefully with "Season in the Sky": the calm after the storm...

In short, a very welcome return, which after a week of listening to "Alcest" and "Anathema" feels like a nice dish of dear old "bucatini all'Amatriciana" after a binge of Sushi. What can I say... Welcome back Biohazard!
