THE REVIEW

Last Friday, along with my cousin, I made a quick stop (lasting more than 5 hours) at the last Italian date of the Progressive Nation Tour, held in Conegliano. The concert was truly excellent, and even Dream Theater was not bad, but the band that impressed me the most (aside from those crazy Unexpect) were Bigelf.

Composed of a left-handed bassist covered in crosses, a guitarist equally adorned with sacred symbols, a drummer who looks like a hippie hobo, and a singer/keyboardist who looks like Willy Wonka, the Los Angeles quartet plays music very much oriented towards '70s Prog Rock that presents a high dose of psychedelia thanks to the omnipresent keyboards (I say keyboards, I have no idea what the heck they actually are... Organ? Synth?).

Capable of moving from more listenable and catchy songs like "Money, It's Pure Evil" to slower moments like "No Parachutes" to heavy tracks with tempo changes ("Blackball"), and even the almost excessive use of the orchestra, as in "The Games", Bigelf offers us a splendid Hard Rock album of the kind that hasn't been heard for quite some time, very varied and fully enjoyable.

Highly recommended.
