Let's talk about it:
There are very few bands that manage to transform that cauldron of alternative-rock/post-hardcore/post-rock, straddling the '80s and '90s, which at the time was still somewhat undefined, and turn it into something fresh and extremely personal (I think of Metz, Pile, partly Krill, and very little else).
Among them, there's truly a need to mention the Big Ups, not new to the pages of debasero; the album really spans the decades: from the outbursts of Shellac and Big Black, to the Helmet-like compression, reaching on one side metal/emo-core boulders and on the other arriving at the expiation of the clamor, brushing up against the shores of Slint and Rodan, without forgoing that Polvo mathematics rediscovered both in the singing (very grunge, reminiscent of Cobain but not totally) and in certain structures.
The Unwound might be the most apt comparison for their ability to navigate a variety of sounds and genres.
I dream of an Albini production.
