THE REVIEW

Maximum respect for the bands that love to release EPs between albums.

1997, this was the golden era. Right after the release of If You're Falling Sinister, the Scots achieved the feat of releasing a trio of high-quality mini EPs. Last in this series is 3..6..9 Seconds Of Light, a collection of five tracks, which includes the classic elements that have made the band so beloved. Melancholy, sweetness, peace, anticipation.

The novelty lies in a tough track like "Le Pastie De La Borgeoisie." Organ, reverberated guitars in a Western-Rockabilly style, inclined towards a vaguely epic conclusion. A flavor already hinted at in the previous two EPs, only a few months younger.

"Century Of Fakers" is a more classic reinterpretation that gives the right depth to "A Century Of Elvis." A track already included in Lazy Line Painter Jane, characterized by its sweet ending, based on synths in a Westside, early '90s style.

In 2005, the EP would be included in the collection Push Barman To Open Old Wounds, along with productions prior to 2001.

Undoubtedly, the best of the series.
