Beirut is the musical project led by American musician Zach Condon, known for Balkan-tinged indie folk, brass arrangements and nostalgic songwriting. The project emerged in the mid-2000s and received attention for its early albums.

Debut album Gulag Orkestar released in 2006. The Flying Club Cup followed (2007). The Rip Tide was released in 2011. Zach Condon is from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Three DeBaser reviews examine Beirut's early albums, praising Zach Condon's Balkan-tinged arrangements and nostalgic songwriting. Comparisons to Neutral Milk Hotel, Sufjan Stevens and other indie figures appear. Overall reception is favorable with notes on occasional unevenness.

For:Fans of indie folk, world music and Balkan-influenced orchestral pop.

A record, but also a book, never has a unique meaning; it opens up to multiple interpretations: an operation of empathy is therefore always necessary, which is highly personal and subjective, to extract feelings and images from the music.

Beirut, Zack Condon. I care for both. Reading books and listening to music matter when they touch people.
