The eighties were dazzled by the meteoric rise of Talk Talk, who enriched international music with "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock," two sapphires of rare beauty and yet difficult to listen to. It seems strange that the same band of "Such And Shame" could disintegrate the musical structure to the point of rendering it a mere ghost of itself. But these refinements come at a high price with unpopularity and the extortions of record companies who care not for the fragrance wafting in the air, but for the packaging of the fragrance itself. However, a seed had been sown, and the embryo it generated would not be covered in cement... not this time.

The nineties... the germ has borne fruit, and like a phoenix rising, that music sees the light for the joy of our eyes. Like a shooting star that lights up the sky and disappears consumed in its cosmic blackness, the Bark Psychosis emerge, elevating to power the sound so gently outlined by the final Talk Talk. Hex is dimension, it is spirit that blends in the air, it is that which does not claim to be, like a whisper that is heard but does not seek to overpower what surrounds it. Hex is there if you want to listen to it, and it speaks to you from within... thus in its immobile beauty, just as the beauty of life can be.

Stylistically, Hex is psychedelia, chamber music, jazz, avant-garde and more, but it is above all stillness, harmony, passion. Yes, passion, that passion which animates the groups that create masterpieces and then get lost because they are crushed by their own passion. But it is reductive to think of Hex's music in terms of genres. How can one define or explain with words the allure of emotion? This is Hex: emotion, air, generosity. Single, long notes expand in a crescendo of sounds and harmonies, filling spaces without assaulting them. They slip away, lost in the eternal. Even the percussion appears as soft lullabies. Everything is meticulously planned, obsessive. In the frenzy of the world (well represented by rock in its facets), Bark Psychosis chooses true transgression: spirituality, the nightmarish dream, the scream of those who remain silent and fill the head of those who ruthlessly condemn and shout.
Hex is and remains a masterpiece to this day, even if forgotten, but listening to it cannot leave you without enrichment. A testament masterpiece of a band that in its very short life illuminated the night sky with the colors of the soul. Pure spirit. Hex.

Too bad it's not even on sale anymore!

01   The Loom (05:15)

02   A Street Scene (05:35)

I'm sure you can make it.
Flipside now nothing changes.
I run past your street deserted;
Fading light on your fading face

Incision. Carved out.
No trace of doubt.
I can't extract the truth, you know it.
But what you give you get.
While this place spins like a heavy doorway.
But you've seen it all.

Pretence. Rip this town.
You turn my world upside down

Incision. Carved out.
No trace of doubt.
I can't extract the truth, you know it.
But what you give you get.
While this place spins like a heavy doorway.
But you've seen it all.

Gather it around:
you built it up to tear it down.

"‘Absent Friend’, 8 minutes and twenty seconds of closed eyes, of free diffusion of relaxation, of pure-state elegance."

"I think that after all, these four guys are truly psychotic, psychotic in the art of sounds."
