Three Steps Forward. A simple title for an album that is anything but simple. It is one of the best things made in Italy in this decade; it could be that I have an imprinting towards this album, but I find it of excellent quality, though for those used to lighter listens, it may be challenging, perhaps due to some tracks like La fine di Pierrot or Mi arrendo.
There are a total of 14 tracks, including the two interludes Ramon 2 and Mexicostipation (with the latter being a one-minute masterpiece), and you can find folk-rock pieces like Il mistico or La fine di Pierrot (which I think has Silvestriani influences), moments of world music with Ramon and Non ricordo più, and moments where French and Spanish take the lead (Macrame les doigts, Que nadie sepa mi sufrir). Three pieces deserve special mention: Sempre allegri with lyrics written together with Dario Fo, the melancholic ballad Negli occhi guardo poco, and Mi arrendo, the most electronic of the lot.
Aside from that, there's nothing else to say; listen to it because it is an album that deserves more attention.
