THE REVIEW

“Try to stay seated at the bottom/ and tell me how cold it is/ try to rise, try to heal”
... This is how the adventure of the Banda dei Falsari begins, a young group with a wide range of musical genres in mind and, above all, lyrics written "from the heart". From the heart because this Folk-Rock-Reggae-d'Autore music and much more, features very deep lyrics (including the first single, the playful reggae ballad "Quanto basta"). Then we encounter "A tocchi a tocchi" a cover of "Alla Renella" by Gabriella Ferri readapted with the style that characterizes the band, also the new single.
Special pieces are "Il sogno di Icaro", sung by the splendid and poignant voice of Andrea Satta, from Têtes de Bois, and that historic one of Francesco Di Giacomo, from Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, and “dall’alto”, dedicated to the civil war in ex-Yugoslavia, which ends with a moving, fierce, and pure text “In this night illuminated as day/ in this day as if it were night/ mercy is in the eyes of a gunsight/ revenge in those of a child”.
The Banda dei Falsari tries to make poetry music, and music poetry, and all of this is also noticeable in more aggressive and pro-rock tracks like “Angeli ribelli”
“My dear girl, the truth is an excuse/ it's a Mangiafuoco's alibi/ it's the flute of an enchanter/ gold-plated/ It's your dream of a peasant/ watching me from a hill/ it's the tail of a comet/ now too far away/ Remember? You didn’t believe it could be true./ Rebel angels sing, sometimes they cry”.
The Banda dei Falsari is a group that can and must grow, the singer Marco Frugoni sings with heart and manages to convey emotions of characters as few can do, the same emotions of Icarus, of the Rebibbia prisoner, of the aerial observer, of the letter writer, and of the explorer at the court of the Queen of Spain, these guys have an extra gear to look at this crazy world, sounds to harmonize it, and voices to tell it.

The best advice is to buy this CD, listen to it, listen to it, listen to it, and go to one of their concerts, which is exceptional for the atmosphere, for the music, and for the chance to physically touch emotions not ours, but those of the characters who become immense in their thoughts.
