"This is us" is the title that the Backstreet Boys chose for their seventh studio album. A title that, in the band's own words, is emblematic of their entire career.
This is us... shout the five guys from Orlando, this is us, still here after 16 years, a record for a group born and grown under the stereotype of a boy band.
It was 1999 when five handsome American guys rode the wave of success and the hearts of teenagers with the album "Millenium", and now, their entire musical journey and evolution are encapsulated in the 11 tracks of the new album set to release in Italy on October second.
Trying not to lose their signature style, the American band in "This is us" winks at the new trends of world music with upbeat dance songs: starting with the first single from the album, Straight to my heart, produced by Red one (Poker face) going through Bye bye love, signed by Claude Kelly (the mind behind the successes of Leona Lewis and Christina Aguilera) and Masquerade, then returning to the sweet ballads of Bigger, written and produced by Max Martin (author of their greatest hits), and This is us, the album closes with the romantic Undone, which among the 11 tracks stands out the most for the vocal harmonies that have always been the BSB's trademark.
Other big names appear in the album: Pitbull duets with the band in Helpless; T-pain writes and produces the very catchy She's a dream. And then also Akon, Ne-yo, Chris Brown, Brian Kennedy. In short, it seems that all the new names of the international r&b scene stopped by the studio of the former boys who have now become men and are ready to bet that the Backstreet Boys are no longer just a band for teenagers but a valid product that deserves the attention and respect denied in recent years by a music scene with too many preconceptions, because it's not easy to find today 5 voices so different but that together can create a magic, a magic called pop, a magic simply called Backstreet Boys.
This is us...

First off, I can't keep a promise, I'm no one to count on at allAdd on that I'm a coward, too scared to return your call
But you don't care, you keep sticking aroundWhile I'm acting a clown, you're bigger'Cause you're still here, your feet stuck to the groundDespite how silly it sounds you're bigger than me
It's known that I'm a liar often they're blacker than whiteAdd on my unkinded ego, no one's less humble than I
But you don't care, you keep sticking aroundWhile I'm acting a clown, you're bigger than me'Cause you're still here, your feet stuck to the groundDespite how silly it sounds you're bigger than me
All the messed up things I do, yeah, I swear I'll make 'em up to youBefore you go and have enough just let me make it betterI'll try and measure up, I'll try and measure up to you, oh yeahI'll make 'em up to you, oh yeah
'Cause you don't care, you keep sticking aroundWhile I'm acting a clown, you're bigger than me'Cause you're still here, your feet stuck to the groundDespite how silly it sounds you're bigger than meJust bigger than me

"'Straight Through My Heart' is a perfect combination of past and future, what Backstreet Boys have been and will be."
"If you're tired of hearing only music 'modified' with autotune, just buy this album and enjoy it, track by track, because these guys really sing, and they do it well."
