THE REVIEW

The Backstreet Boys released this CD in 1997...

Four ugly guys plus a cute blonde arrive on MTV with the unforgettable song "Everybody"... an extraordinary video that dropped you into a 90s horror atmosphere... the song in question is perfect for group dances for athletic seniors... another song that became quite trendy was "As Long As You Want Me" (it’s as long as you want me), leaving aside the borderline pornographic title, we must say this song made its mark among the 90s youth, with their Magnums and Pickwick sweatshirts... who would put on their Walkman on the bus... coming back from school with their Invicta backpack... happy to go home and watch a nice episode of Beverly Hills... the other songs were just made to fill the CD... but what can you do... the Backstreet Boys were terrible... uglier one than the other... AJ the semi-bald one with protruding ears and black nail polish... Howie the intellectual of the group who appeared in videos only in sad moments and when the girl dumped the guy... Kevin or whatever his name was with the goatee that I always thought was 30 years old... the blonde who still occasionally vegetates on MTV with some ridiculous singles... and the singer who is a mix between a dwarf and a werewolf (also known as Jaw or Jawline)... the Backstreet Boys still sold many CDs just like the previous Take That... yesterday as today is the era of commercial music... music made just to sell CDs... but who hasn't sung a Backstreet Boys song... unfortunately, we live in a period where consumerism and banality far outweigh artistic value.... but what can you do...

Ah, one last thing... do you think that the various bands like Babyshambles, Strokes, White Stripes are not a regurgitation of the 90s version... "rockstars who love to destroy their lives"... it's all the same story, it's all the same sauce, but they want us to look at it from a different perspective... well, I’m not buying it... you better hold on tight to your old CDs... stuff like that won't be seen again... bellaaaaaaa.... one kiss for my sexy teen... Ilaria girl of my dream... sexy teen street life... hey Emiliano, how’s it going in there huh??

Summary by Bot

This review offers a sarcastic and critical look at Backstreet Boys’ 1997 album Backstreet's Back. While acknowledging the popularity of hits like 'Everybody' and 'As Long As You Want Me,' the reviewer mocks the band’s image and dismisses most songs as fillers. It reflects on 90s youth culture and critiques the commercial nature of pop music, ending with a cynical comparison of 90s pop to modern rock acts.
