At the time of this album (released in 2003), Babalot were still a real band, Sebastiano Pupillo (vocals and guitar) had not yet taken on the role of a one-man band, and here the groundwork was laid for that stunning album that later turned out to be "Un Segno Di Vita".

After a couple of demos, those from Aiuola Dischi signed them, and "Che Succede Quando Uno Muore" came to light. An electronic instrumental intro (almost trip-hop) introduces us to the world of Babalot...."I am a patient traffic officer who doesn’t want to issue tickets, I am the Sunday that follows your benders, I am that friend who got you drunk, I am a black and intense cramp without which you cannot be" (Senza Titolo (3 Agosto))....a calling card supported by a hammering soundscape, then moving on to a surreal text with a chorus that sticks in your head immediately like that of "La lavatrice e il muro"...just as in "Festa n.3" and "Forse una donna"...texts increasingly ironic (I am a crappy guitarist and this is my damn party)...double-edged swords... we might define it as auteur electro pop...because if Babalot makes you smile on the first listen, soon after the value of those words so well pieced together begins to grow and you find yourself contemplating seemingly nonsensical rhymes like "Panca bestia"....follow the Bristolian interludes... heavy rotation tracks (La Mantide) for which someone like Fabrizio Moro would pay gold (besides, Sebastiano's voice here is very similar to that of the Sanremo winner)... then specters appear in "Schifo"...sweet and bitter ballad (I see too many idiots around I don't know what else to do but wonder what they are for even when you make noise your noise is always less)...the same bitterness dosed with more irony in the following "Ferie Mentali"....grandchildren of Rino Gaetano... who manage with one alliteration after another to offer us also a love song that hits the heart like "Una cosa sola".... then there's the lo-fi of "Ma che ti ho fatto".....and the conclusion entrusted to "La morte di una medusa"  and "Lo Spettro" (ghost track)... with texts truly born from the best Italian singer-songwriter tradition....

In short, an album that for those who love Italian indie, in my opinion, is indispensable... a small underground masterpiece.
