THE REVIEW

The Avulsed are a band that I would call unique. In fact, even though they seem like a Brutal Death Band in every sense, the percentage of brutal in their songs is only 50%. The band is indeed very inspired by traditional Death, Thrash, and partly by Grind. Nevertheless, giving a touch of brutality to the whole is the vocalist, with a very rotten growl (a real sewer I must say).

This 'Gorespattered Suicide' is their latest Full Length (as far as I know, the latest CD titled 'Reanimations' is composed only of covers) dated 2005. The record kicks off with the extremely violent Title Track, one of the most "Brutal" songs of the entire album. However, in the album, we will also find a lot of melody, even keyboards (listen to the whole album and you'll hear) and parts that remind of Speed/Thrash. It is still Brutal, and the band reminds us of it in every song, the growler sings with a very low and rotten tone, the drums willingly burst into blast beats and the guitars grind fast riffs like Cannibal Corpse.

It must be said that Avulsed do not take themselves too seriously, just think of the 15-second song called Infernal Haemorrhoids, not to mention the last track, Ace Of Spades, a cover of the legendary Motorhead! Although the cover might make one smile, it is well played and listenable. The band was already known to critics years ago and is now on their sixth full length, the musicians' abilities are good, certainly not on the level of bands like Deeds Of Flesh, but let's say they manage it. Even from the musical point of view, we are not at stratospheric levels, but the group remains an honest Death Metal band.

I recommend the album to fans of the genre who shouldn’t miss out on this band, which has been delighting us with its brutalities for years.
