Austin Lace - Easy to cook (Homesleep)
Sure, it's a bit early for spring, dear reader, but what use is music if not, as Plato already suspected, to build ideal and parallel worlds? (not to think about the Structural Engineering exam or yet another mortgage payment…)
Coming to our rescue then are four youngsters from Belgium, who choose to hide behind the name Austin Lace, and on their first attempt (they had actually already released a good demo), they showcase a work full of virtues because it's simple, catchy, and also utopian (what would you call the dream of sunshine for everyone in "Sunshine For Everyone"?). Liverpool has never been as close to Belgium ("Say Goodbye"), and then, chasing the ghost of the Fab Four, you might end up passing through Brazil ("Bossanova" and the splendid "Come on, come on, come on"), encountering the Supergrass and mistaking them for the Beach Boys ("Accidentaly Yours", "Your Heart Is A Cook"), returning home only to realize that spring hasn't arrived yet and get saddened ("to Ronald").
It seems so simple, so predictable... so indie FM, yet who said something beautiful has to be difficult (can you imagine?! Calling an album easy to cook...).
