Audioslave was an American rock supergroup formed in 2001 by Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk (formerly of Rage Against The Machine) with Chris Cornell (formerly of Soundgarden). They released three studio albums: Audioslave (2002), Out of Exile (2005) and Revelations (2006), and disbanded in 2007. Chris Cornell died in 2017.

The band initially recorded under the name Civilian; the debut album was produced by Rick Rubin. The group's sound combined members' RATM and Soundgarden backgrounds and drew varied critical reactions.

DeBaser's reviews of Audioslave show a divided reception: praise for Chris Cornell's voice and several standout tracks, criticism for perceived similarity to Rage Against The Machine and lack of originality. Live reports describe energetic shows with strong crowd reaction. The band's three studio albums receive mixed-to-positive ratings overall.
