LA RECENSIONE

Today we talk about Alvaro Fella, who composed all the music of their 2nd LP and a good part of the lyrics as well, while the arrangements are democratically credited to the entire group. As I listen to it for the umpteenth time, I think back to that morning in 2019 and my friend Bartolo, who asked me if I listen to all the records I write about. Yes, is the answer, I write my impressions and a good deal of things read and mercilessly copied from the WEB, but never without listening to the album at least twice. Here it is different, the record was worn out and wasn't even mine because I had borrowed it from my friend Franco, who had the intuition to make it his own, perhaps attracted by the cover or something else, as they were not much talked about and soon ended up in oblivion. A solid work to which I am very attached, a spectacularly gritty voice with harsh and raw lyrics that got them banned from radio broadcasts of the time, musical maturity with acoustic moments happily mixed with electric ones that integrate into a single entity with the words and, if you think about it, it's a rare thing in Italian prog for a whole LP. An album that should not be missing for those passionate about Italian rock and for me is worth the classic 5 stars. I don't know if they ever had a reunion, but I would give a lot to hear them live once (this I wrote in 2019, they did have a reunion but I missed it). Their work marked the transition from song form to a collective work that results in something harsh and sharp, telling nothing more than what each of us knows but dares not to denounce, and they paid the price with radio censorship while their hard instrumental slashes stand well alongside the best Atomic Rooster or Jethro Tull.
