David Lynch (born 1946, Missoula, Montana) is an American filmmaker, visual artist, and musician known for surreal, dreamlike narratives and meticulous sound design. His work blends neo‑noir, mystery, and psychological horror into uniquely unsettling worlds.

Won the Palme d'Or at Cannes for Wild at Heart (1990). Nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Director (The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive). Received the Academy Honorary Award in 2019. Co-created Twin Peaks with Mark Frost.
