No, just kidding...we are faced with yet another page drenched in blood; Death-Grind "like they don't make anymore"!!!

"The Deathinitive compilation and complete history of Earache Records - Making Music Obsolete Since 1986". So reads an appropriate caption on the back cover of this compilation, one of the best put together during those crazy years by the Nottingham-based English label.

We are in 1991, in the most dramatically explosive, virulent, "splatter" moment of extreme Metal.

All the historic bands are here, engaged in biting the ankles and everything else of the unsuspecting listener.

Seventy-three minutes and twenty-two seconds of true and stunning slaughter set to music.

The well-made choice to usher in the leaden deluge belongs to Morbid Angel; their sound is a cyanotic Death with some disjointed fragments of Black Metal. Chapel Of Ghouls is the title of the track. The skeletal baton is passed into the filthy hands of the then very young Carcass: Exhume To Consume is one of the first examples of contamination between Death and Grind. A "washing machine during spin cycle" production renders the passage of minutes even more dismal, with the double growl of Jeff and Bill terrifying.

Speaking of terror, the Terrorizer, another legendary band in their own right, couldn't possibly be left out. Dead Shall Rise travels at unimaginable speed, thanks to the insane work on the skins by Pete "Commando" Sandoval. Then it's time for Justin Broadrick and Godflesh: the six minutes of Streetcleaner represent the most claustrophobic and damaging moment of the compilation. Industrial-Death from a metallurgical pour.

We proceed with the crazy Naked City of heretic jazz musician John Zorn: Osaka Bondage barely surpasses a minute in length, just enough to pulverize, to shred every semblance of linearity!! The diabolical shouts of that demon Yamatsuka Eye are a godsend for someone like me who loves these unconventional sounds.

There's Entombed, Bolt Thrower, Carnage, Cadaver, Repulsion, Nocturnus...all included in a musical context of stunning and canonical Death Metal.

And you arrive, in pieces, at the final second of You Suffer by Napalm Death: I’m not joking because the track, I also wrote a review on it some time ago, lasts one second...YOU SUFFER BUT WHY...
