"How is going to end?" is definitely an album that makes itself loved. And just like in The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie, the film from which they borrow the main theme to create a sweet and intimate cover, the Astrid Hotel cherish the pleasures of small things.
Music that goes deep and flows smoothly, this Roman band is committed to continuing the successful blend of post-rock and psychedelia as other great Italian bands have done, first among them Verdena, with whom they share a three-member formation and a marked taste for very intense singing parts, coupled with evocative sounds, and a track like "Unk(now)" is a perfect example. I don't think it's a coincidence that the album art features all pastoral images: upon listening, it truly seems that the music flows very naturally and manages to evoke those emotional landscapes so dear to fans of the genre. However, notable episodes of genre digressions are not lacking, as in "Ulysses Blues", which, as the title suggests, ties more into a roots music discourse, but always contaminated by that subtle post-rock veil that permeates the entire work.
In conclusion, these Astrid Hotel have produced a CD that fascinates in various ways, has its own personality, is easy to listen to and leaves its mark, not bad at all for a start.
