Astra is an American progressive/psychedelic rock band from San Diego, formed in 2001. They released The Weirding (2009) and The Black Chord (2012) on Rise Above Records, channeling a 1970s-inspired sound with expansive, instrument-rich compositions.

Five-piece from California; signed to Rise Above Records after support from Lee Dorrian. Hallmarks include long instrumental passages, vintage recording aesthetics, and influences from Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis, and Ozzy-era Black Sabbath. Notable epics include "Ouroboros" (>17 minutes) and two title tracks near 15 minutes.
