Astaroth were a Roman five-piece heavy metal band. In 1985 they released the mini-LP The Long Loud Silence; the band disbanded soon after due to internal conflicts.

The Long Loud Silence (1985) is described as a speed-metal landmark and a collector's/cult item. Members mentioned in reviews: singer Bob Cattani, bassist Shining, drummer John Onofri, guitarists Max Cipicchia and Simone Triscari. The record attracted attention abroad (noted fans in Belgium) and involved contact with producer Jac Hustinx (associated in the review with Rave-on/Mercyful Fate). The group used Roman legionary outfits onstage.
