Assassin is a German thrash band formed in Düsseldorf in 1983. They released the debut The Upcoming Terror (1987) and Interstellar Experience (1988), underwent lineup changes and recorded a demo before disbanding; a later release, The Club, appeared in 2003.

Reviews note comparisons to Slayer and the Teutonic bands (Kreator, Sodom, Destruction), vocalist Robert Gonella, drummer Psyco Danger, guitarist Scholli (early), later Michael Hoffman (joined before Interstellar Experience) and drummer Frank Nellen. Producers mentioned: Kalle Trapp (The Upcoming Terror) and Harris Johns (Interstellar Experience).

Two DeBaser reviews (both by Francescobus) examine Assassin's 1987 debut The Upcoming Terror and 1988's Interstellar Experience. The coverage highlights raw speed-thrash roots, lineup changes, production credits and a later 2003 release, The Club. Overall critical view is mixed, noting strengths in some tracks and weaknesses in vocals and production.

For:Fans of 1980s Teutonic thrash, collectors of classic thrash metal, metal historians

The Assassin personified the "Free For All" of German Thrash, a gigantic musical brawl of enormous proportions, with an apocalyptic feel, essentially based on a sonic cocktail of Slayer, specifically the "Hell Awaits" era, combined with a more cautious writing ability and inferior instrumental prowess.
