"Citrus" is the second work by Asobi Seksu (in Italian "sesso per divertimento" or "per gioco"), a New York quartet dedicated to playing something halfway between shoegaze, indie pop, and alternative rock.
A record rich in dreamlike and ethereal atmospheres, outlined stroke by stroke by the gentle and crystalline voice of the singer Yuki, alternating with surprising bursts of pure rock: the contrast is strong, yet the mixture works and even contributes to boosting the appeal of a record that perhaps, if confined to its more delicate and evanescent side, would not have been as rich and enjoyable.
A unique and, in my opinion, intriguing work. Give them a try.
