Asbestos Death was an American doom metal band featuring Al Cisneros (vocals/bass), Matt Pike (vocals/guitar), Chris Hakius (drums) and Tom Choe (guitar). They are presented as the embryonic formation that led to Sleep and played heavy, psychedelic-tinged doom.

The Dejection/Unclean material was reissued in a single format by Southern Lord. Tracks such as "Anguish" and "The Suffering" from the Unclean side later appeared on Sleep's Volume One. The band's style is described as uncompromising doom with moments of psychedelia.
