Billy Strayhorn (1915–1967) was an American jazz composer, pianist and arranger, best known for his long collaboration with Duke Ellington and for composing 'Lush Life' and 'Take the "A" Train'.

Born William Thomas Strayhorn in 1915 in Dayton, Ohio; active from the 1930s until his death in 1967. Long-time collaborator with Duke Ellington. Roles included composer, arranger and pianist. Notable compositions include 'Lush Life' and 'Take the "A" Train'.
