Ernest Ansermet

Ernest Ansermet (1883–1969) was a Swiss conductor, founder and long-time director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He is known for numerous recordings of French and Russian orchestral repertoire.

Founded the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in 1918 and served as its principal conductor for decades (1918–1967). Made extensive recordings, particularly of French and early 20th-century repertoire.
