Maria Callas

Maria Callas (1923–1977) was a Greek-American operatic soprano celebrated for her interpretations of bel canto and dramatic roles. She made extensive studio and live recordings during the mid-20th century.

Born Maria Anna Sofia Cecilia Kalogeropoulou in 1923 (New York City), she became known as Maria Callas and nicknamed 'La Divina'. She died in 1977.
