What strikes me about Articolo 31, it must be said immediately, is their ability to tell real stories through hip-hop. This is what they do in this rich and varied album, titled 'Così Com'è'.
In fact, many of the tracks on this album can be listened to and danced to at the same time. In short, not only does your head move, but your ears open up and your mind clears. Stories revolving around the singer/rapper J. ax ("Sono solo robe vere, vere come la roba che canto", he declares in the song 'Fatti un giro'), stories to be listened to with attention. Very diverse stories among them: some funny and others more 'angry' ("Non c'è rimedio", for example), but always authentic and credible. Moreover, Articolo 31 unveils sensual and vaguely erotic tracks ("Domani", "Tranqui Funky"), thanks also to splendid female voices appearing in the choruses.
But generally, Articolo 31, sometimes more and sometimes less, succeed in entertaining, and that's what matters. Some verses are hilarious (I quote some of my favorites): 'ne ho mangiato tanto, tipo 'puah' e mi fa schifo !?("Non c'è Rimedio"). 'Tu non sei un vero duro: troppi ce ne sono di veri duri, fuori, che ti prenderanno a calci in culo !' ("Sono l'M.C."). 'E se penso al suo seno' -UH-UH- 'zitti, non vi riguarda, e guai a chi si azzarda' ("Gigugin"). 'Sì! Te lo direi COSÌ e COSÀ! 1000 modi di'-FARE L'AMORE' ("Così e Cosà").
Too funny; in their own way, ingenious, simple, genuine.
Articolo 31 bring hip hop into millions of homes and contexts.
'Così com'è' is a colorful, vibrant, enjoyable album like a box of chocolates.
This album SUCKS... IT'S A PIECE OF CRAP!!!!
Those who understand good music, listen to me and steer clear of this stuff!!
"We all have 2 faces. We have a public facade... and then we have the more intimate and turbulent side."
"That fantastic record is the greatest success (and the best work) hip hop made in Italy of all time."
‘The extraordinary feat is being normal’ — J-Ax’s realization in 'L'impresa eccezionale' is simply fantastic.
‘I am absolutely not regretful for having done so, and therefore I think clemency and (potential) mitigating circumstances can be damned! Cogito ergo sum, boom!’
