There are people who possess a genius that makes them superior to the norm. There are people who can't restrain their genius and often end up going overboard, losing sight of their goals.

Brian Williams, better known as Lustmord, is a man who knows he possesses compositional abilities beyond the norm and understands that certain boundaries should not be crossed. His music, made of turbulent reflective sounds, is certainly not easy listening, which is why the "genius" must be well balanced by a strong awareness. How many times have we seen musicians or bands make missteps due to the desire to overdo it? Countless. Williams, here "masked" under the pseudonym Arecibo, creates once again a complicated and disturbing album, an abyss of dark despair. Six chants from the mind of a man who takes inspiration from the infinite and beyond, to evoke Space, the Universe in its extraordinary vastness.

In this "Trans plutonian transmissions," it seems that constellations, galaxies, and everything surrounding the planet come to life to visit us, to tickle our minds. To recreate this, the designer of Arecibo paints science fiction melodies using synthesizers in particular. The compositions become less complex than other works by the artist, who, however, certainly does not stray from his musically complex proposal.

It would be an understatement to say that Brian Williams here enriches his ambient work with more electronic elements, but indeed, he does. The glaring proof of this is the suffocating progression of "NGC 5427", a stunning soundtrack for a post-apocalyptic world. As always, in this work, each composition is a unique journey made of barely hinted sounds and noises that unsettle the listener. A complicated listening experience, as per Lustmord's script. Even more difficult to assimilate when considering that the six tracks are quite repetitive and monotonous. This is not due to a lack of ideas but to the malicious intent to create suggestion and disturbance to our auditory senses.

A work that one must approach cautiously, on tiptoe, but above all with psychological willingness. The music conceived by this man is certainly not for everyone, and a superficial listen might only wrinkle the nose of those not accustomed to this nocturnal symphony. "Trans plutonian transmissions" creates scenes of destruction, desolate lands shaped by events, places of an alien future.

A work to be handled with care, where once again the musical and compositional genius of Mr. Williams emerges.
