'Arctic Monkeys' live in Italy… act one. Passed or failed? I would say deferred.

Vox crowded with people, tickets sold out for days, unbearable heat. This is the presentation of the first outing in Italy of the most contested English band of the recent period, their album; “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I Am Not” has been one of the discographic questions of the past year, revelation or continuation of an already saturated brit-pop?

The four guys from Sheffield start off strong, pure and dazzling rock, the crowd is jumping and moshing everywhere; however, as the show progresses, the concert almost becomes a single song divided by excellent breaks like “Mardy Bum”, “Dancing Shoes”, “When the Sun Goes Down” and their first single “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor”.
The Monkeys fail to stamp that something different of new-british that was expected, little sonic variety and little inventiveness in delivering the tracks, which remain very close to the studio version. The musicality becomes increasingly monotonous, and even the group's involvement is sparse; the multiple adulations to Italy and the girls in the front row certainly did not ignite the audience.

Except for the magnificent appearance on stage of three fans, who after dancing alongside the "Arctic Monkeys" dove into the crowd, the concert was not among the most exciting. The Monkeys need to grow, the potential is there and so is the record label support, let's hope for the best, let's hope that their musical maturation and the search for new sounds will lead them to significant evolution, my wish is that they are not just all show but that ultimately they have something new to say; so strength and courage Monkeys, we are only at the beginning.
