The Profile

Architects are a British metalcore band from Brighton, formed in 2004 by brothers Dan and Tom Searle. Known for technical early records and later expansive, synth-laced heaviness, they earned acclaim with Hollow Crown, Lost Forever // Lost Together, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, and For Those That Wish To Exist. Following guitarist-composer Tom Searle’s death in 2016, the band continued with resilience and released Holy Hell (2018) and beyond.

Core members include vocalist Sam Carter and drummer Dan Searle. Tom Searle (guitar, main composer) passed away in 2016. The band later recruited Josh Middleton (Sylosis) on guitar. Their sound spans tech-leaning metalcore, alternative metal, and prominent use of synths; production collaborators include Steve Evetts. Origin: Brighton, England.

Across five DeBaser reviews, Architects are praised for their evolution from technical metalcore to a broader, synth-laced sound. Hollow Crown is hailed as a powerful leap, while The Here and Now and Daybreaker split opinions on innovation versus hooks. Animals and For Those That Wish To Exist showcase accessible yet hefty production, strong vocals, and big choruses. The band’s resilience after Tom Searle’s passing is noted as central to their recent phase.
