LA RECENSIONE

In the second half of the '90s, I had a romantic relationship with a Polish girl. She had some cassette tapes recorded with music from her country, including this one. When I heard these guys, I stopped everything to find out who they were. There was a bit of confusion because on the tape, made by a friend of hers "who listened to particular music," there were three bands: Dzem, Acid Drinkers, and these guys. Besides Dzem, she didn’t know who the other two were.

In short, over the years I searched but didn’t find them, and the issue remained with me until I stumbled upon a CD by Acid Drinkers which I risked buying blindly, but to my disappointment, it wasn’t them. Let me point out that at the time, the internet was still in its infancy, and thus attempts to acquire hard-to-find records involved some acrobatics, unimaginable now, like consulting paper catalogs, phoning record stores, sending cash in envelopes, and hopeful waiting for the mail to bring you the coveted package.

So, I had identified the right "pharmacy," and after some research, I found out they had made several records, but the titles of the songs weren’t listed on the cassette. Thus, I stumbled upon the object in question in their first work, recognizing it by the singing that allowed me to identify the "big noise." A record from 1990, and it wasn’t available, I had to wait for its reissue in 2013, immediately seizing it from a Polish seller on the internet.

Finally, why did I write this whole preamble? Because the record is awesome... Diving into listening to it, we are hit by an acidic psychedelic rock, and the street vibe is unique in making it resemble so many things heard and synthesizes them all in the best way. Throughout the record, the pleasure of active attention, provoked by the product's quality, stirs an irreverent stance towards any unfavorable (and not only) situation, and the overlapping distortions urge a decisive indifference to everything.

The record is bold and never disappoints, effectively alternating the singing between English and the native language, and reminiscences do not affect its originality.

The muriatic taste is there, and the cynical and dynamic atmosphere too, so what are we waiting for to put it on?
