After modulating and shaping sounds from the most diverse sources, both analog and digital, Sascha Ring (known as Apparat) arrives at his final musical archetype with "Walls".

Having shed the ethereal dancefloor intoxication that led him to release the excellent "Orchestra Of Bubbles" in collaboration with Ellen Allien, the German producer synthesizes a musical form far from dynamic conceptualities and thus focused on a sort of dreamlike stasis. The sound fabric is shapeless, ambient, and fully blended with an idea, not far off, of Dream Pop.

"Walls" is immediate, but also distant. It delights from the very start, seeps into the fabric, and then begins to unfold, like all good viruses. The lullaby that chases away demons ("Over And Over"), the loss in the red flowers of evil ("Fractales Pt.I" and "Fractales Pt.II"), the warm caresses of a nymph ("Like Porcelain"). And, since words are important, "Arcadia" and "Holdon". Rhythms and perception. Apparat's art finds its melodic sublimation here, never so focused and never with such consistency. As if to say: the truth always lies in simplicity.

However, what is perhaps missing here is precisely the primordial confusion that characterized works like the underrated "Multifunktionsebene" and "Duplex". What remains instead is that feeling of stunning impassivity. Sascha knows stasis well.
