THE REVIEW

I think that 'Ventolin' is the most claustrophobic work ever conceived by human madness. Just to clarify, I would say that many songs on this album represent the last musical innovation for me. Because what we have in music today is just garbage. And it took someone like AFX to awaken us from this musical world.

E.P. :

The first song we encounter, is the remake (because you can't call it a remix) of Salbutamol, which in my opinion did an excellent job without getting too dirty. Because he understood that people liked (so to speak… ) that damned whistle and he made it perpetual throughout the song. Which blends very well with the dark and dreamy notes of the song. The second is that of Preeze-an-Beeble, defining it as a mix of Noise and Drum'N'Bass, is the most suitable comparison, with an ending I never expected with those evil and dark grins, but also burlesque and spasmodic according to me. Marazanvose produces a song, much more dance, but at the same time more "arrogant", ending with a sample of a coupling, which however is also a simple noise similar to that of scratching (and let's not specify where… ). Plain-an-Gwarry is an old-school style techno song with a jazz-like rhythmic base, complete with sax. The Coppice remix is the most serene and is also somewhat bluesy (now don't get angry because I didn't say it's a B.B. King song… ), very beautiful and calm, very relaxing. Crowsmengegus is very close to the more introverted and experimental industrial, which if I'm not mistaken also mixes typical classical oriental instruments (revised with synths), with Fusion/Jazz rhythms.

Remix :

The Wheeze Remix is noisier than the original and also shows rather brit-pop revisions that approach the Sneaker Pimps (who if I'm not mistaken have done some dates together with AFX), wonderful song, even if it is more noise, in my opinion, it is less annoying than the Salbutamol version. Noteworthy is the song, it also shows different musical styles like ambient and classical (which I really like both… ). Carharrack features drums with a black music style ride, the rhythm is very hip hop with Jazz piano. The Probus mix shows facets regarding ambient and classical music (as written above, sorry but I can't find a way not to repeat phrases) it is also somewhat prog. Cylob mix, is quite experimental and minimal, pleasant, not annoying, very introverted as a song. The Deep Gong mix takes on dance-floor and hip hop/rap rhythms. The last song (that is, Asthma mix) is quite melancholic and also very dreamy.
