So, I adore Aphex Twin, and therefore I'm somewhat biased, but I want to talk about this album precisely because it's one of the most overlooked of all time from the so-called genius of electronics. Now, you guys are right, it's not a masterpiece, there are tracks that are really awful and it has to be admitted, but it's equally true that amidst the chaos there are truly original, fun, and absolutely successful ideas that stand out, almost like pearls, in a sense.
From the first disc (it's a double album), it's worth mentioning the splendid "Raising The Titanic," in my opinion, one of Richard's most successful tracks, "Heroes," which dismantles Bowie with a string section (I despise it but the sampling expertise is undeniable), moving through more rhythmic pieces like "Ziggy" or "Change" and ending beautifully with the very strange finale of "Let My Fish Loose," balancing between classical guitars and whistles. Since I don't want to win the Nobel for the best review of the year, I won't talk about the other disc, though I would like to mention the first and the eighth "song."
Well, hoping you won't throw words at me like you're used to, I recommend this album that brings Aphex's style closer to pop sensitivity, always better than Robbie Williams after all...
