THE REVIEW

April 27, 2014 - April 27, 2024.

From Antonello Venditti to Antonello Venditti.

Exactly 10 years ago, my first review on Debasio, Benvenuti in paradiso; today, my 172nd composition!

Today's writing is dedicated to the soundtrack of the film Troppo forte, released in 1986 just before Venditti e segreti.

The good Antonello, fresh from the success of Cuore in 1984, for which he will be touring this year on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, brings two tracks from the album to the soundtrack and composes 10 brand new instrumentals for it, at the time.

The two songs are Piero e Cinzia, a story of love and music set at Bob Marley's concert at San Siro in 1980; and Non è la cocaina, a beautiful portrayal of the "Roma da bere" in the full hedonistic decade, with a beautiful final solo.

The other tracks make up a heterogeneous soundtrack, between the bursts of the two Go go, the romanticism of the two Love theme, the suspense of the namesake RR, and the guitar work of String blues and Love theme blues. Honky Donkey and Don't go away are not bad, while Duel deserves a special mention, truly effective.

For being the soundtrack of a film, the first one composed by Antonello, we can definitely give it 4 stars.

Happy birthday to me!

Next stop? Reviewing the four albums of teenage Michael Jackson, conspicuously absent here. If someone wants to do them in my place, they are welcome.
