Almost by chance, I happened to listen to this CD again, and once more, I enjoyed it. This last work with Patterson opens with the melancholic and slow piano intro. Following that, "Weight Of The World" fairly well represents the mood of the album: light and melancholic thoughts accompanied by acoustic simplicity.

And here is "Epitaph" introducing a heavy violin, an instrument we will also find in "MR White", this time followed by delicate, perhaps resigned, female vocals. My favorite track is "A Portrait..", an acoustic arpeggio that communicates all of its sadly restless essence.

The next piece opens with a synth background, and again the female voice comes to the forefront to tell us about a fragile broken mind and an open heart. "Legions" somewhat recalls "A Portrait.." without being an easy repetition; it is certainly one of the darker songs: "where god is a wall" sings Moss. The interlude entrusted to the violin confirms that there is not much more that can be done now. The last track, "Eternity part 24", a more or less veiled reference to Anathema, is an end without any words, an acoustic beginning, and then a tapestry of synth and keyboards drawing a fragment of an endless journey.

In about 10 years of activity, this is perhaps one of the most valuable works, certainly my favorite. It's a shame about Patterson's departure, but Moss will surely bounce back.
