THE REVIEW

Fourth album by Antibalas, a little-known New York band, after their previous three went unnoticed. Bringing them out of anonymity are none other than John McEntire (former Tortoise) in production and Anti in distribution. Practically recorded live, the album reveals all their qualities as a live band, honed over years of performances across the States.

Warnings: it sends electrical charges through your body, rising from your buttocks to your hair. Dosage: take in case of rain, heartbreak, debts, and various disputes. The presentation could end here, without adding unnecessary quotes or boring track-by-track descriptions, leaving free space for the element of surprise, the same one that pervaded me when I put on this "Security".

Just to save time for those not interested in the genre, it can be described as an unspecified afro-funk-jazz and something else, always traceable to the black soul of music, from where it all began. Enthusiasts will find themselves dancing around the bonfire lit by Antibalas, as if overwhelmed by the ancestral call of tribal rites buried in consciousness.

Antibalas' fourth album 'Security' showcases the band's live energy with a dynamic blend of afrobeat, funk, and jazz. Produced by John McEntire, the record brings this previously lesser-known New York band into the spotlight. The music's electrifying and rhythmic pulse connects deeply to ancestral black musical roots. Ideal for fans of energetic, dance-inspiring grooves.
