After many years spent on tour accompanying her father Ravi around the world, having released her own Indian classical music albums, the captivating Anoushka in the early 2000s collaborated with various artists in her albums, navigating towards other sounds while always holding her sitar.
After collaborations with Karsh Kale, Sting, her half-sister Norah Jones, and other musicians in the album "Breathing Under Water," the princess of the sitar came out with "Traveller" in 2011.
As the title itself suggests, the album is a traveler and gypsy: its roots start in India and transfer to Spain.
Indian classical music goes to marry another passion of Shankar, Flamenco. All of this is very modernized, also including several sung tracks.
An engaging album: the therapeutic features of the sitar in tracks like "Krishna", the classic raga "Bhairavi" and the touching lullaby of "Lola's Lullaby" meet the maternal sweetness of "Inside Me" (whose lyrics recount Anoushka's childbirth experience), the dancing challenges of "Buleria Con Ricardo" and the rapid mixed virtuosity of "Dancing In Madness".
An approach that is contaminated, colorful, and less classical to this wonderful music.
