Second part of the double concept album revolving around the ultimate theme, LOVE pt.2 is the fourth album produced by Angels & Airwaves, the first with their new independent record label ‘To the Stars Records’.

The album, consisting of 11 tracks, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor but deviates somewhat more from the atmospherics, thus leaving behind some of the almost ‘space-like’ sounds we could find in ‘The Flight of Apollo’ or in ‘The Moon-Atomic’. The result is a more mature and less ‘dreamy’ work, which is evident in the themes and musicality of some songs like ‘Inertia’ and ‘Behold A Pale Horse’, the latter a true reinterpretation of the last book of the Bible: Revelation. However, hope is not lacking, the true sentiment that has always characterized the songs and message of AvA, a theme addressed in ‘One Last Thing’ and also in ‘Saturday Love’, where hope is placed in love. This is the first track of the album and its intro, harmonious and in full AvA style as they have always accustomed us to, is, besides an introduction to the album itself, a great injection of adrenaline subsequently supported by ‘Surrender’ and ‘Anxiety’, respectively the second and first singles released, moving through ‘Dry Your Eyes’.

Certainly, there are no shortages of slower, more melancholic songs focusing exclusively on love: this is the case of ‘Crawl’, the case of ‘Moon as my Witness’… but most notably, the case of ‘We Are All That We Are’, the true masterpiece of the album. The song was written for a friend of Jeff "Critter" Newell, the band's former sound engineer and considered by the band itself as the fifth member of AvA, who passed away in January 2012. Tom's voice is accompanied by the piano, solely by that, and then evolves to conclude in a harmony of sounds and instruments that culminates in a stunning 2 minutes and 30 seconds solo, serving as the true outro of the album, in ‘Some Origins of Fire’ style, but to the nth degree.

With this latest work, will the circle of the trilogy of albums that began with "We Don't Need to Whisper" (representing destruction and hope for the future), continued with "I-Empire" (symbolizing restoration) and completed with the double album LOVE/LOVE pt.2 (the definitive explosion of the sentiment) finally close? The challenging verdict is up to AvA... we are waiting.
