THE REVIEW

A perfect book

"Praga magica" is my cult book.
The book I would take to a desert island.
I recommend it to everyone. To those who loved Prague from the first time they went there and have since carried it always in their heart. But also to those who have never harbored the dream of going and visiting it. Because, after reading the book, they will definitely go. Historical-political and socio-economic essay, novel, baedeker, simple travel guide, accumulation of small-big curiosities. It tells, with rare precision and in detailed fashion, almost everything there is to know about misty Prague: the most arcane, fascinating, and mysterious city in the world. The capital of alchemy, esotericism, and magic.
But at the same time, it reveals to the reader much about the curious, witty, and brilliant personality of its author: Angelo Maria Ripellino, one of the brightest Italian figures of the '900s.
A straightforward, essential, and modest man, as only true greats know how to be; a sensitive and profound person; a serious, sharp scholar with an inexhaustible vein; a personality with an encyclopedic cultural background. An irreplaceable author: a perfect book. One of the hundred books to save in Italian literature of all time.
